The 408th Support Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia was approved on 16 September 2007. Its red, blue, and white background represents the Brigade’s parent command, the Army Materiel Command, and confers that unit’s responsibility for supplying Soldiers onto the Brigade. An upright sword in the center of the insignia denotes protection of the Homeland through a constate state of preparedness.
The gold used for the insignia’s borders and for the compass rose convey the notion of excellence and lofty ideals; the compass rose itself indicates the worldwide scope of the organization’s mission while simultaneously simulating the desert sun of Southwest Asia. Laurel branches at the bottom signify honor, victory, and achievement.
This insignia is no longer authorized for wear. It was cancelled by a G-1 directive, Headquarters of the Department of the Army on 21 February 2010.
