Headquartered at Fort Carson, Colorado, the 4th Per-sonnel Services Battalion was an element of the 3rd Personnel Group under the command of III Corps. As part of the Army’s transformation toward a modular, brigade-centric force, the Battalion established three Personnel Management Centers that was responsible for the personnel services needs of 3rd Brigade Support team and the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment.
The 4th Personnel Services Battalion was inactivated in 2002, with its Soldiers being reassigned to other Personnel Services Battalions in III Corps. “Commitment To Service” was the battalion motto and formed both the capstone and base of the 4th Personnel Services Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia.

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
