U.S. ARMY 130TH FINANCE BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

The 130th Finance Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 15 September 1999. Its golden yellow and silver gray colors are the branch colors of the Finance Corps, inspired in part by the use of actual gold and silver as money in our country as recently as the start of the 20th century. A diamond is taken from the Finance Corps’ branch insignia, while the color black recalls North Carolina’s nickname as the “Tarheel State” (hence the nickname "Tarheel Paymasters"). Six plates (roundels or circles) are symbols of currency, and a quill pen denotes the signing of payroll and other financial documents and highlights the battalion’s mission.

Since the insignia was approved the, the 130th Finance Battalion has undergone at least one redesignation. A unit in the North Carolina Army National Guard, the Battalion exists today as the 130th Financial Management Support Unit and is based at Siler City, North Carolina. It comprises two subordinate elements, the 112th and 113th Financial Management Support Detachments, and is part of the Special Troops Battalion, 113th Sustainment Brigade, a major command in the North Carolina Army National Guard.
