U.S. ARMY 10TH PERSONNEL SERVICES BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

The United States Army Center of Military History has no record of the 10th Personnel Services Battalion and The Institute of Heraldry does not list the unit’s insignia (although it does verify that “Supporting Glory” was/is the motto of the 10th Personnel Services Battalion.

According to the Web site
Global Security, a unit with a highly similar designation—the 10th Personnel Support Battalion, 10th Mountain Division—was merged with the 33rd Finance Battalion to form the 10th Soldier Support Battalion, 10th Mountain Division on 23 July 1998. In addition, the Together We Served Web site’s page for the 10th Personnel Services Battalion notes that it was an organic component of the 10th Mountain Division; together, these bits of information would seem to indicate that the 10th Personnel Support Battalion was the descendant of the 10th Personnel Services Battalion.

Unfortunately, there is no readily available public information regarding the lineage or history of either Battalion. We encourage anyone who can provide information on the lineage, history, and or current status of the 10th Personnel Services Battalion to email us so we can update this Web page with pertinent information.
