The 781st Military Intelligence Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI), colloquially referred to as a unit crest, was first approved for the 744th Military Intelligence Battalion on 26 May 2011 and was redesignated for the 781st Military Intelligence Battalion on 27 November 2012.
Its design features a shield divided vertically in half, one side with a white field and the other with black and both containing two stars (mullets). The design symbolizes the continuous round-the-clock support to combatant commanders. An orange circle recalls the signal efforts undertaken by the Army’s first Cyber Warfare organization.
Inside the circle, a sphere of oriental blue, traditional color of Military Intelligence units, alludes to the Intelligence responsibilities of the unit while alluding to the global nature of its mission. An upright sword is an emblem of strength and military preparedness, a sign that the unit is capable of countering threats across the globe. Behind it is a crossed arrow and lightning bolt, with the arrow implying the pinpoint accuracy of the Battalion’s signal and cyber warfare operations and the lightning bolt symbolizing the speed at which these operations are conducted.
At the base of the shield, the “V” is a reference to Vanguard—the unit’s unofficial designation—and the Battalion’s distinct role as the Cyber Vanguard. UBI CETERI NON POSSUNT, the unit motto, is Latin for “When Others Cannot."

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, the Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia."
