U.S. ARMY 160TH MILITARY POLICE BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

Green and yellow (gold), branch colors of the Military Police, feature predominantly in the 160th Military Police Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia, which was approved on 21 January 1971. Two vertically oriented gold keys in the center stand for custody and restoration, and combined with the scales of justice help symbolize the Battalion’s basic mission of rehabilitating military offenders. A rose superimposed over the keys alludes to a special award presented to the Battalion for devotion to duty. The white domes are the top simulate the Taj Mahal and are a reference to the service in India of the Battalion’s predecessor unit.

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
