Approved on 23 April 2009, the 141st Military Police Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia’s green and yellow shield incorporates the branch colors of the Military Police. A pair of crossed pistols, counterchanged green on a yellow background, are symbols of the Battalion’s law-enforcement and security missions that are ongoing in both wartime and peacetime. A counterchanged and crossed yellow axe and rifle denotes battle, while the rifle and the powder horn hanging from it signify combat readiness.
The black background is the color of determination, soundness, and dependability; it also suggests the massive reservoirs of coal, part of West Virginia’s heritage that also provide a foundation for the state’s plenteous mountains. TOTUS SECURUS, the Battalion motto, is Latin for “All Secure.”
Formed in the West Virginia Army National Guard, the 141st Military Police Battalion is no longer listed on that organization’s roster of active units. While still active, its last known assignment was under the 77th Troop Command.

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, the Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
