USPHS COMMISSIONED CORPS FIELD MEDICAL READINESS BADGE

The Field Medical Readiness Badge (FMRB) was one of several insignias and devices revised by the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps in an effort to bring a Mil-Spec standard into place to ensure a consistent appearance. While the basic design of the FMRB was unchanged, the chain of the fouled anchor was modified to reflect the appearance of the new Corps device introduced at that time.

Classified as a Skill badge, the pin-on metal version of the Full-size FMRB is worn the Service Dress coats (blue and white) and the shirts worn with Service Khaki and Working uniforms; miniature versions are worn with the Dinner Dress Blue or White Jackets. Full-size badges measure roughly 1.25" x 1.25" and miniature badges are approximately three-quarter square inches. Skill badges are worn centered above ribbons/medals.

The FMRB is awarded to those Corps members whose service during a deployment was proved that they have acquired far more than the knowledge and skills necessary to meet Force Readiness Standards. Additionally, recipients will have passed a more strenuous physical fitness test, completed all mandated Web-based learning modules, and will have undergone at least a seven-day deployment within the past three years.
