Manufactured in the United States to meet or surpass all Mil-Spec requirements and Navy regulations, this combination cap cover is designed for wear with the Navy’s Aviation Working Green (AWG) uniform. The Navy officially phased out the AWG on 31 December 2011 despite quite vocal protests from Officers and CPOs who appreciated the versatility of the uniform’s semi-formal appearance.
When it was first introduced, the AWG uniform was manufactured in Forestry Green either with wool in a variety of styles (gabardine, serge, elastique, whipcord) or a lightweight tropical fabric. At the time it was phased out, it was manufactured in wool elastique or a 55/45 polywool blend, which is the fabric used for our AWG combination cap.
