U.S. ARMY NATIONAL GUARD PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION CENTER UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however. More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

The National Guard PEC Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 9 July 1003. QUI DOCET DISCIT is printed in script on a scroll at the bottom of the insignia; it translates into English as “He Who Teaches, Learns.” The Minuteman in the Center is the longstanding emblem of the National Guard, and the two torches on either side of him represent leadership and the transmission of knowledge. Above the Minuteman’s head is a diamond charged with a star; this is taken from the state flag of Arkansas and refers to the center’s location. An open book is another reference to education and the impartation of knowledge.
