USMC OFFICER TIE TACK / CLASP

In the United States Marine Corps, Officers are re-quired to wear a necktie clasp or tack whenever the khaki shirt is worn as an outer garment (Blue Dress “C” and Service “B”), while the wear of tacks and clasps is optional with the Service “A” uniform and its Service coat. Tacks and clasps are positioned horizontally and placed midway between the third and fourth buttons from the top of the shirt.

This tie tack / clasp is an optional-purchase item (the gold necktie clasp is the standard issue for all male Marines) and features the iconic Eagle, Globe, and Anchor rendered in a combination of gold and silver that follows the design of the Officer’s branch-of-service collar insignia—the globe uses silver for water and gold for land mass, silver rope is attached to a golden anchor, and the eagle is all silver.

Tie clasps, along with cuff links and shirt studs, are authorized for wear with civilian clothing.
