COAST GUARD SERVICE STRIPES (SET OF 7)

This set of seven service stripes—more commonly known as hashmarks—is authorized for wear by Coast Guardsmen who have logged between twenty-eight and thirty-one years of service in the Guard or any other branch of the Armed Forces of the United States (including the National Guard), or in any combination of those branches.

Service stripes are worn on all blue Service/Dress uniforms except the Tropical Blue; the only white uniform on which they’re worn is the Dinner Dress White Jacket (DDWJ). The fabric backing for the stripes—scarlet and navy blue stripes for E-4 to E-6, gold for CPOs E7 to E-9—matches the color of the uniform on which they are worn.

Service stripes are worn at a 45-degree angle with the lowest point of the stripe two inches from the cuff of the sleeve, and adjacent stripes must have 1/4” space between them.
