The Division Staff Officer pin-on metal insignia is identical to that of the Flotilla Staff Officer except its red letter “A” is on a silver rather than a gold bar. On trench coats, windbreakers, and blue raincoat and overcoats, the large version of this device is worn on the epaulettes with the letter “A” facing outboard and the bottom of the device just 3/4-inch from the edge of the epaulette. Organizationally, the Division Staff Officer has roughly the same operational and leadership responsibilities as a Flotilla Vice Commander.
Division Staff Offices are appointed in all the same areas as Flotilla Staff Officers, but there are several Division-level positions for Staff Officers (Aviation, Flight Safety Officer, Diversity, and Legal/Parliamentarian) not offered at the Flotilla level. Auxiliarists serving as a Division Staff Officer may also serve in another DSO role, and may also being serving simultaneously in an elected leadership position.
