U.S. ARMY SPECIAL TROOPS BATTALION, 1ST ARMORED DIVISION SUSTAINMENT BRIGADE UNIT CREST (DUI)

The 1st Armored Division's Special Troops Battalion was derived from the Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the Division Support Command (DISCOM), which was redesignated the 15th Special Troops Battalion, 15th Sustainment Brigade 2005. In May 2015, the 15th Sustainment Brigade was assigned to the 1st Armored Division and was subsequently redesignated the 1st Armored Division Sustainment Brigade and, at the same time, the 15th Special Troops Battalion became simply Special Troops Battalion, 1st Armored Division. Both the Brigade and Battalion are stationed the 1st Armored Division’s home base of Fort Bliss.

Approved in 2007, the Distinctive Unit Insignia (often called unit crest) of the Special Troops Battalion, 1st Armored Division Sustainment Brigade uses the colors green and gold to emphasize the battalion’s association with the Armor branch. The tank wheel in the lower right reinforces the 1st Armored Division’s tank warfare capabilities, while the quill pen is a reference to the administrative and support functions of the STB’s previous incarnations. A lion passant in the top of the shield is symbolic of the DISCOM’S World War II heritage. “Make It Matter” is the no-nonsense motto of the battalion.
