The Ranger Tab is a military decoration of the United States Army which signifies completion of the U.S. Army Ranger School, a three month course providing instruction in small-unit combat tactics in woodland, mountain, and swamp operations.
Army Ranger Tab is awarded to the soldier after completing the graduation from U.S Army Ranger school.The soldier is permitted to wear the Ranger tab for the remainder of his military career even if he is not assigned to an Army Ranger Unit.The cloth version of the tab is worn on the U.S. Army Combat Uniform and Class-A dress uniform of the U.S. Army; a smaller, metal version is worn on the formal dress blue and dress mess uniforms.
