U.S. ARMY DRESS AIGUILLETTE

The dress aiguillette is authorized for wear by officers with the male and female Blue Mess, White Mess, and Blue Evening Mess uniforms, as well as the male White Evening Mess. Its wear is also allowed with the blue dress uniform, but only during formal occasions (i.e., those calling for the wear of the bow tie instead of the four-in-hand).

Like the service counterpart, the dress aiguillette is worn by attachés, assistant attachés, and aides, but only when they are performing duties as aides. Which side of the uniform the aiguillette is worn on depends on the job or duties of the wearer—the military aide to the President, social aides serving on duty with the First Family at the White House, and officers who have been designated to serve as aides to foreign heads of state wear it on the right side, all others on the left.

We offer dress and service aiguillettes manufactured in either gold-colored rayon or synthetic gold. Although Army regulations leave the decision regarding which type to purchase up to each officer, they imply that the more expensive synthetic gold versions are best-suited for more formal occasions.

Please refer Chapter 19, Section 26 to Department of the Army Pamphlet 670-1 regarding the proper method of attaching and wearing the dress aiguillette.
