U.S. ARMY 875TH ENGINEER BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

The 875th Engineer Battalion is a subordinate unit of the 87th Troop Command, Arkansas Army National Guard. Its Distinctive Unit Insignia was originally approved for the 875th Engineer Aviation Battalion, Arkansas National Guard on 12 September 1956 and celebrates its service during World War II; it was given its current designation on 1 May 1970. Scarlet and white, branch colors for the Corps of Engineers, is used for the shield portion of the insignia.

A scarlet sartorel (“x” shape) on a white field represents a two-strip air field, symbolizing the functions of the unit as it served as an Engineer Aviation Battalion in World War II. The wavy partition around the saltorel represents the Pacific Ocean, area of the Battalion’s two World War II campaigns (New Guinea and Aleutian Islands). “Ready and Willing” has been the unit motto since the insignia was first approved.

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

As of Autumn 2023, the 875th Engineer Battalion remains an active unit in the Arkansas Army National Guard. Its Headquarters and Headquarters Company is based in Joneseboro, Arkansas.
