For its Unit Crest (officially known as a Distinctive Unit Insignia)
, the 7th Division adapted the hourglass motif used in the design of its shoulder sleeve insignia and its Combat Service Identification Badge (CSIB)
. Here, the hemispheric triangles formed by the merging of two “7’s” have been shifted so their tips no longer meet. A bayonet has been added as a reference to the unit’s official nickname, which was inspired both by General MacArthur’s assignation of “Bayonet Division” and the dauntless fighting spirit of the unit, perfectly symbolized the signature weapon of the infantryman.
