The 757th Transportation Battalion was originally constituted in the Organized Reserves (designated as the Army Reserve after May 1952) on 1 July 1933 and organized by 1937 in Michigan. Redesignated three times and converted once between 21 February 1941 and 16 November 1942, the Battalion fought in three campaigns in the European Theater during World War II as the 75th Railway Shop Battalion, Transportation Corps and was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation for its outstanding service.
It was redesignated as the 757th Transportation Battalion on 1 January 1955, but over the decades it would undergo numerous redesignations and reorganizations, culminating in September 2015 with its reorganization and redesignation as the 757th Transportation Center and its location changed to St. Louis, Missouri. As of Autumn 2023, the Battalion is a subordinate unit of the United States Army Reserve Deployment Support Command with its Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It addition to its HHC, it consists of four Railway Operations Companies (226th, 1150th, 1151st, 1152nd).

Brick red and golden yellow, official branch colors of the Transportation Corps, are predominantly employed in the design of the 757th Transportation Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia, commonly called a “unit crest.” A pair of double bars is used to simulate railroad tracks, while a black disc in the center of the insignia stands for a locomotive wheel; together they allude to the organization’s early history as a Railway Shop Battalion. A lion from the coat of arms of Normandy and the two sets of double bars denote the organization’s three campaign credits from World War II. “Source Of Power” is the Battalion motto.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 28 March 1963.Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam.
