U.S. ARMY 746TH MAINTENANCE BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

The 746th Maintenance Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia, more commonly referred to as a unit crest or a DUI, was originally approved on 20 November 1956 for the 746th Ordnance Battalion. It was redesignated for the 107th Maintenance Battalion on 7 August 1964, a designation it retained for nearly twenty years. On 5 June 1972, it was redesignated for the 107th Supply and Service Battalion, then five years later 746th Maintenance Battalion (27 April 1977). It was amended on 26 March 2001 to update the description.

Crimson and yellow, the colors employed for the field background of the shield portion of the insignia, are associated with Ordnance and Ordnance-Maintenance organizations. A pair of crossed lances and a lance rest symbolize combat arms; they are also a reference to the Battalion’s home station of Lansing, Michigan. PALPITANTES PROELII is the unit motto.

This unit appears to have been inactivated, deactivated, or converted, reorganized, or redesignated under another name.

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
