U.S. ARMY 732ND SUPPORT BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also referred to as a unit crest or a DUI, the Distinctive Unit Insignia of the 732nd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion was originally approved for the 732nd Ordnance Battalion on 15 February 1954 (it was amended to correct the spelling of SERVIAMUS, the unit motto, on 10 June 1954). Redesignated for the 732nd Maintenance Battalion on 11 June 1964, it would retain that designation for more than forty years; the insignia was given its current designation for the 732nd Support Battalion on 1 September 2008. It is unclear when the unit began to be referred as the 732nd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, but this insignia is still used for the unit.

Crimson and yellow in the field of the insignia are used to denote the unit’s origins in the Ordnance branch, while the chevron is suggested by the 107th Quartermaster Regiment coat of arms (an organization in the Battalion’s lineage). Six blue circles in the chevron are for the six campaigns the unit fought as Infantry in the Spanish War and World War I. The circles also simulate wheels and are an allusion to the unit’s Transportation duties in World War II. SERVIAMUS is Latin for "We Serve.”

A unit in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, the 732nd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion is assigned to the 64th Troop Command and is headquartered at Tomah, Wisconsin. In 2010, it was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation for its service while assigned to the 36th Sustainment Brigade and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia."
