U.S. ARMY 67TH MAINTENANCE COMPANY UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

The 67th Maintenance Company Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved for wear in 1968. The blue gear symbolizes the mechanical repair functions of the unit. “No Delay” the unit motto, reinforces the unit’s commitment to providing its services in a manner that optimizes the ability of the parent unit to fulfill mission objectives in a timely manner.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

While serving in Vietnam, the 67th Maintenance Company was a unit in the 2nd Maintenance Battalion, 26th General Supply Group and assigned to support the 101st Airborne Division outpost southeast of Hue that was originally designated as Landing Zone El Paso and Landing Zone Tombstone when occupied by the 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division. In March 1969, the 101st Airborne Division relocated its Headquarters to the outpost and renamed it Camp Eagle until abandoning the site in December 1971.

In 1974, the 67th Maintenance Company was awarded the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm for its exceptional performance at Camp Eagle between 1 March and 9 October 1971.

A lack of any further information on the 67th Maintenance Company indicates that the Company has, at the very least, been inactivated for a considerable period of time, but we can find no verification of it on the Internet. Please email us if you have any information regarding the 67th Maintenance Company's history and lineage since returning to the U.S after serving in Vietnam.
