U.S. ARMY 643RD SUPPORT GROUP UNIT CREST (DUI)

A unit in the Army Reserve, the 643rd Regional Support Group (RSG) was originally formed in 2009 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 643rd Support Group. It was reorganized in June 2010 as a Regional Support Group, and since that time it has shifted between Active and Reserve status on several occasions. One of its most recent activations was to assume command and responsibility of the Hood Mobilization Brigade at Fort Hood, Texas from the 38th RSG. At that time, the 643rd RSG consisted of four battalions comprising nearly twenty companies with more than 2,000 Soldiers. As of Autumn 2023, the 643rd Regional Support Group remains allotted to the U.S. Army Reserve and is assigned to the 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, 377th Theater Sustainment Command.

The scarlet and gold/buff colors seen in the 643rd Support Group Distinctive Unit Insignia are associated with units in Support Roles. “Supporting One Team,” the unit motto, is a reference to the Total Army—a single force made up of the Active-Duty, Army Reserve, and National Guard components.

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
