U.S. ARMY V CORPS UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. Current regulations do not permit the DUI to be worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

Just as in the V Corps Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI), a pentagon forms the centerpiece of its Distinctive Unit Insignia. Above the flag-blue pentagon, which consists of five triangles, are two fleurs-de-lis. The one on the left represents France, in honor of the unit's activation there in 1918 (the three stars in the base of the pentagon represent three World War I campaigns).

The fleur-de-lis on the right symbolizes the Corps' action in France during World War II, with the five radial white lines separating the triangles representing the five campaigns the unit fought in; the line facing up is tipped with an arrowhead denoting the Corps' role in the D-Day landings and subsequent Normandy campaign. The unit motto, "It Will Be Done," is conspicuously displayed at the bott
om.

Known as the "U.S. Army's Forward Deployed Corps," V Corps headquarters are located at Forward Operating Station Pozna%u0144 in Poland. The Corps' mission is to bolster the security in the region and to provide reassurance to NATO and its affiliated organizations in Europe that the U.S. commitment to the region is as firm as ever.
