The 548th Support Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia, more commonly referred to as a unit crest or DUI, was originally approved for the 548th Supply and Service Battalion on 7 July 1967. It was redesignated for the 548th Support Battalion, with revised description and symbolism, on 16 November 1993. It is worn today by the 548th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion.
“Supporting The Sword,” the unit motto, is displayed in a scroll at the base of the insignia and encapsulates the organization’s mission. This is reinforced by the image of a sword, common symbol for the combat arm, supported by branches of a mountain ash, which is frequently referred to as the “service tree” and thus alludes to the Support element of the organization; the leaves also are emblematic of the myriad functions and activities of a Support unit. A blue star is a reference to Supply activities.

The 548th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (CSSB) is a subordinate unit of the 10th Mountain Division Sustainment Brigade. In September 2009, the Battalion was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation for its outstanding service between March 2008 and May 2009 while assigned to the 371st Sustainment Brigade, 3rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. As of Autumn 2023, the 584th CSSB remains assigned to the 10th Mountain Division Sustainment Brigade and is stationed at Fort Drum, New York.
