The 546th Personnel Services Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia, also referred to as a DUI or unit crest, was approved on 9 February 1995. Its dark blue and scarlet tones are the colors traditionally used for the heraldry of Personnel Services organizations; red is the color of courage, determination, and vitality, while blue denotes loyalty and faithfulness. White (silver) is used for the column, adding up to our national colors of red, white, and blue.
A red pale holds the column, and together they simulate the numeral one and allude to the unit motto, “One Team One Service.” Additionally, the Roman column is a reference to the World War II service in Rome of units in the Battalion’s lineage.
Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
