The Latin phrase “GLORIAMUR SOLVERE” translates into “Proud To Pay” or, more precisely, “We Are Proud To Pay,” reflecting the commitment to this vital but sometimes overlooked aspect of Army operations. It is inscribed in gold letters on a scroll at the bottom of the 4th Financial Management Support Unit Distinctive Unit Insignia, with gold (and silver used elsewhere in the design) symbolizing not only excellence in achievement but also renumeration. Four countercharged diamonds reflect the unit’s numerical designation and are inspired by the design of the U.S. Army Finance Corps Regimental Distinctive Insignia.
Also known as a unit crest or DUI, the Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia."

Since it was originally constituted on 1 November 1942 and activated at the end of the same month as the 4th Finance Section, the 4th Financial Management Support Unit has undergone several redesignations, reflecting the Army’s approach to handling the pay and compensation for its personnel. After being redesignated as the 4th Finance Disbursing Section in March 1943, the unit took part in four campaigns in the European–African–Middle Eastern theater (Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe). Under the same designation, it was recognized for participation in eight of the ten Korean War campaigns, and its service was also honored with a Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.
A little over a decade after the end of the Korean War, the unit was redesignated the 4th Finance Section on 25 May 1964. It would hold this title for nearly thirty years (although this included a twenty-two year stretch of inactivation) before being it was consolidated with—and redesignated as—the 4th Finance Battalion in 1993. In June 2006, the Battalion was redesignated as 4th Finance Company and subsequently activated in October. Five years later it was given its current designation of 4th Financial Management Support Unit, a title which reflects its responsibilities not only in disbursement of pay but also in counseling personnel and retirement and investment opportunities.
