U.S. ARMY 485TH QUARTERMASTER BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

The 485th Quartermaster Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia, also referred to as a unit crest or DUI, was approved on 4 August 1998. Buff and light blue are used to denote the organization’s status as a unit in the Quartermaster Corps. The image of a stand of wheat in the center of the shield portion of the insignia symbolizes the unit’s heritage as a bakery, while the cornucopia, or “horn of plenty,” stands for constant sustainment support. A key dividing the two images reflects the unit’s mission as both the source of materiel and protector of that storehouse. An arrow at the top of the insignia highlights the organization’s support of combat arms units, and the motto “ABUNDAUTIA COPIAE” is a Latin phrase that translates as “Abundant Supplies To Troops.”

The insignia was approved on 4 Aug 1998. From 18 February 2004 to 17 February 2005, the 485th Quartermaster Battalion, a part of the U.S Army Reserve, was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation in October 2007 for the “outstanding support” it provided “in the areas of fuel, water, and supply management.”

Guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

As of 2023, the 485th Quartermaster Battalion appears to have been inactivated reorganized/redesignated, disbanded, or consolidated with another unit under a different designation.
