U.S. ARMY 468TH CHEMICAL BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

The 468th Chemical Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia was authorized on 9 March 1990. “Veil Of The Dragon,” the Battalion motto, is inscribed in golden yellow letters on a cobalt-blue scroll, incorporating the two branch colors of the Chemical Corps. Golden yellow is also used for the background of the shield, which is shaped like a smoke cloud as an allusion to the unit’s mission and is a reference to the motto. On the field is a fire-breathing dragon—a mythical creature often used in the heraldry of Chemical units—standing upon a portcullis, a gate seen on castles, to emphasize the staunch defense capabilities of the unit.

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
