US ARMY 45TH FIELD ARTILLERY BRIGADE UNIT CREST

The various units that wound up as components of the 45th Field Artillery Brigade can all trace their origins to Enid, Oklahoma and the Oklahoma National Guard. This shared heritage is reflected in the Indian head found in the center of the 45th Field Artillery Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia, or unit crest. Superimposed on a scarlet, diamond-shaped background, the profile is encircled by the unit motto, “Pride Valor Excellence,” inscribed in scarlet letters on a gold/yellow background, incorporating the colors closely associated with Field Artillery branch for over 200 years.

The 45th Field Artillery Brigade unit crest was first approved for wear on 17 May 1972 for members of the 45th Field Artillery Group. It was redesignated for the 45th Field Artillery Brigade on 12 December 1978, and again on 1 September 2008 when the unit was redesignated as a Fires Brigade. It is unclear when the Brigade reverted to Field Artillery, but the insignia was redesignated for it at that time.
