U.S. ARMY 37TH ARMOR REGIMENT UNIT CREST (DUI)

“Courage Conquers” is the motto of the 37th Armor Regiment and is displayed prominently on its Distinctive Unit Insignia, also called a unit crest or DUI. Approved for the 37th Armored Regiment on 1 June 1942 and was redesignated four times between then and 1958, when it was redesignated for the 37th Armor (a Combat Arms Regimental System, or CARS, designation). It uses green and white (silver) for the Armor branch colors even though those colors were only officially used between 1947 and 1951. The green dragon with the red tongue and barbed tail represents the deadly power of the tank force.

The Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
