U.S. ARMY 369TH SIGNAL BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

The 369th Signal Battalion was first constituted in the Army of the United States as HQ and HQ Detachment, 3369th Signal Service Battalion on 10 October 1944 and was activated on 9 November 1944 in Alaska. It was awarded an uninscribed (i.e., for general service rather than a specific battle, action, or campaign) World War II Asiatic-Pacific Theater campaign streamer and remained in Alaska until its inactivation on 11 March 1947.

On 15 June 1969, it was redesignated as HQ and HQ Company, 369th Signal Battalion and allotted to the Regular Army. It was activated in Vietnam at the same time and served there until inactivation on 30 June 1971, taking part in four campaigns and earning a Meritorious Unit Commendation for its outstanding service during the period of 1968-1970. The Battalion’s Headquarters were transferred to the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command and were activated at Fort Gordon, Georgia on 23 September 1986. As of Autumn 2023, the Battalion is assigned to the
15th Regimental Signal Brigade and is still stationed at Fort Eisenhower (formerly known as Fort Gordon) in Georgia, home of the Cyber Center of Excellence.

Approved on 18 May 1970, the 369th Signal Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia—colloquially referred to as a “unit crest” or DUI—features an equilateral triangle with convex sides and four mullets (stars) and a lighting flash dividing the triangle in half. Half of the triangle is orange, the primary Signal Corps branch color; the secondary color is white, used for the stars. The color gold recalls the precious metal, an historically recognized symbol of value and quality

The triangle’s left side incorporates a microwave antenna from which the lightning flash seems to emanate, a visual representation of the communications equipment and radio signals that embody the Battalion’s mission of operating and maintaining Signal equipment, facilities, and service. The triangle’s three sides, the six points on the mullets, and the nine rays of are a reference to the Battalion’s numerical Designation. “Quality All Ways” is the Battalion motto.

Guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
