The 354th Civil Affairs Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia, or unit crest, features the type of ionic column commonly used on public buildings to invoke the Brigade’s mission of assisting in the maintenance of civilian administration in conflict zones. A flame above the column is an illustration of how this can serve as an illuminating beacon, or a “Guide to Victory,” while the V-shape recalls the beam of light found on the Brigade’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (unit patch) and Combat Service ID Badge. One of two Brigades under the U.S. Army Reserve’s 352nd Civil Affairs Command based at Fort Meade, the 354th CAB comprises four Battalions: the 401st (Webster, New York), 414th (Southfield, Michigan), 422nd (Greensboro, NC), and 437th (Fort Story, Virginia).

With the exceptions of the Sergeant Major of the Army and some Command Sergeants Major, enlisted personnel wear the unit crest centered on the organizational flash worn on the beret and centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Service Uniform jacket (unit crests are not worn with the dress uniform) with the base of the crest toward the outside shoulder seam. They are also worn centered above the nameplate on the black pullover cardigan.
