U.S. ARMY 330TH MEDICAL BRIGADE UNIT CREST (DUI)

First allotted to the Army Reserve when it was called the Organized Reserve, the 330th Medical Brigade was designated as a Hospital Center until its 1993 reorganization and redesignation under its current title in 1993. It is currently part of the 807th Medical Command (Deployment Support), which is headquartered at Fort Douglas outside Salt Lake City, Utah. The Brigade consists of two Combat Support Hospitals, the 328th based at Fort Douglas and the 452nd located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Detachments from both of these units were awarded Meritorious Unit Citations for service in the Global War on Terrorism. Also part of the 330th Medical Brigade is the 172nd Multifunctional Medical Battalion based in Ogden, Utah.

The 330th Medical Brigade’s Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI), or unit crest, was approved in 1979 when the unit was still designated the 30th Hospital Center; it was redesignated for the Brigade with a new description and symbolism on 6 October 1993. At the center of the insignia is a cross in crimson and maroon on a silver disc that is encircled by a white ring and then a blue ring. White and maroon are the colors of the Army’s Medical Corps, and the combination of white, blue and red are a reference to the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation for its service in the Leyte and Luzon Campaigns of World War II. "To Lead and Manage" is the unit motto.

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been
authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. Current regulations do not permit the DUI to be worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
