U.S. ARMY 325TH QUARTERMASTER BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

The 325th Quartermaster Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia, also called a DUI or a “unit crest,” was approved for wear on 30 March 1983. Buff and light blue, the colors used for the interior field and the outer scroll respectively, have long been associated with Quartermaster units. A key is the focal point of the insignia and represents administrative control of materials. The black, wavy chevrons are allusions to the storage and distribution of bulk petroleum products, the unit’s main mission. “Lifeblood Of The Army,” the unit motto, also alludes to petroleum products and the unit’s responsibility for maintenance and supply.

The two taeguks in the area formed by the intersection of the chevrons represent two Republic Of Korea Presidential Unit Citations the Battalion was awarded. In addition to those two awards, the 325th Quartermaster Battalion was awarded four battle streamers for campaigns it took part in during the Korean War: Second Korean Winter, Korea Summer-Fall 1952, Third Korean Winter, Korea Summer-Fall 1953.

Note: The unit which was approved to wear this insignia is not active at this time.

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
