Also known as a unit crest or DUI, the Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

The 265th Air Defense Artillery Regiment Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 25 February 1974 with a color scheme of scarlet and yellow to denote its status as an Air Defense Artillery organization. In the upper right corner is a bezant (gold disc) containing a four-pointed star or Pole Star, both of which denote the organization’s service in Alaska during World War II.
A diagonal “stripe,” similar to a bend but with nebuly (uniform protrusions) along the edges, serves to symbolize clouds, indicating the theater of operations of the unit and signifying the unit’s current Air Defense Artillery mission. In the lower left corner is a roundel with blue wavy lines, typically used in heraldry to represent water and here pointing to the unit’s former Coast Artillery service. It is also an somewhat oblique reference to the unit’s location in Florida by alluding to the “Fountain Of Youth” that the Spanish explorer Ponce De Leon was searching for when he discovered Florida. "Home And Country" is the Regimental motto.
As of May 2023, the 265th Air Defense Artillery Regiment is a Florida Army National Guard unit comprising two Battalions, the 1st (1-265th ADA) and 3rd (3-265th ADA), both assigned to the 164th Air Defense Artillery Brigade.
