U.S. ARMY 24TH FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SUPPORT UNIT UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

The Distinctive Unit Insignia of the 24th Financial Management Support Unit was approved in April 1993 while the unit was still designated as the 24th Finance Battalion. Its color scheme includes golden yellow for excellence and black for strength and determination. A white lozenge (diamond) in the center is adapted from the branch insignia of the Finance Corps. It contains a taro plant, a direct reference to the 24th Infantry Division (originally the Hawaiian Division) and its Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. A demi-sun at the top denotes victory in the Southwest Asia conflict (First Gulf War) and recalls the battle conditions in the desert. Two crossed scimitars below the sun represent the First Gulf War and are emblems of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
