The 237th Personnel Services Battalion was originally constituted as the 237th Personnel Service Company in the Ohio Army National Guard on 1 December 1988 and organized on 12 August 1991. It was reorganized and redesignated as the 237th Personnel Services Command on 1 September 1995, a process repeated two years to the day later when it became the 237th Personnel Services Battalion. On October 14 2004, it was ordered into active Federal service at its home station at Columbus and was released from service on 28 December 2005.
A pair of crossed quill pens in the center of the shield portion of the 237th Personnel Services Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia symbolizes the administrative duties the unit performs, while the upright sword surmounted on them is an allusion to the individual Soldier whom the Battalion serves. “Support Defend” is the Battalion motto
Note: The 237th Personnel Services Battalion, Ohio Army National Guard was
slated to transition into becoming the 237th Human Resources Company in 2006, but there is no information on any units holding either of those designations beyond that date.
