U.S. ARMY 211TH AVIATION REGIMENT UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

Ultramarine blue and golden orange, official branch colors of Army Aviation, form the basis of the palette for the 211th Aviation Regiment Distinctive Unit Insignia, approved with an effective date of 1 September 1989. “Wings Of The Rockies,” the unit motto, is a reference to the Regiment’s home area of Utah as part of the Utah Army National Guard.

As of Autumn 2023, the 211th Aviation Regiment consists of two active Battalions, the 1st (Attack/Reconnaissance) and 2nd (General Support).
White intermingled with ultramarine blue is a visual reference to the sky, the unit’s actual theater of operations. A white pheon, a heraldic device resembling an arrowhead, is a symbol of the unit’s offensive capabilities, which in this case are carried out by the Regiment’s 1st Battalion manning AH-64D Apache helicopters. Upward reaching wings are an allusion to the mobility of the Regiment’s aerial assets, which in addition to the Apaches include the 2nd Battalion’s CH-47F Chinook and UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters.
