U.S. ARMY 1ST TRANSPORTATION MOVEMENT CONTROL AGENCY UNIT CREST (DUI)

Constituted on 17 February 1986 in the Regular Army as the 1st Transportation Agency and simultaneously activated in Germany as part of the Army’s Transportation Operational and Organization Plan to increase transportation efficiency, the 1st Transportation Movement Control Agency (TMCA) was reassigned to United States Army, Europe in October 1988. In 1995, it was given the TMCA designation.

Some of the missions assigned to 1st TCMA included serving as the executive agent for movement control in U.S. Army Europe, conducting mission planning associated with strategic deployments (and subsequent sustainment and possible redeployment), coordinate with host nations and contracted transportation assets, and providing movement tracking and in-transit visibility for theater-level commands, to name a few.

On 29 March 2007, the brigade headquarters of the 1st TMCA was inactivated and its colors cased, along with the HQs of 37th Transportation Command and the 2000th Theater Distribution  Brigade.

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

For Enlisted personnel, the insignia is centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
