In the 1st Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade's Distinctive Unit Insignia, or unit crest, a sword outside its sheath (similar to the one employed on the unit's Combat Service ID Badge) denotes the unit’s constant state of preparedness and its proven capability of rapidly providing logistical support to combat forces. The laurel branches have special significance: the 13 leaves on the left represent the original 13 colonies of the United States, and the 10 leaves on the right signify the 10 classes of supplies that the Brigade delivers in support of its soldiers. The two branches also serve as a substitute for the inverted chevrons found on the CSIB that allude to the "V" in unit's motto, "Sustain to Victory," found at the bottom of the crest.
The brigade was activated in 2007 as the 1st Sustainment Brigade, but in 2015 it was redesignated and reflagged as the 1st Infantry Division Sustainment Command, an organic component of the 1st Infantry Division.
