Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been
authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.
Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e),
"Beret" and
"Garrison Cap," respectively.

The 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command Distinctive Unit Insignia was originally authorized for the 19th General Support Group on 23 July 1969. On 19 December 1974, it was redesignated for the 19th Support Brigade, followed by a revision of the symbolism on 7 September 1976. It was redesignated for the 19th Support Comm on 14 April 1978, and redesignated with an updated description for the 19th Sustainment Command on 1 June 2006.
Red and buff (gold is used instead here) are the colors used for Support insignias. At the top center is a keystone and arch inspired by the Independence Gate in Seoul, South Korea; on the keystone is a superimposed a Rose of Sharon, the national flower of Korea, where the unit was organized and is stationed. Two dark blue stars are symbols of guidance and enterprise and reflect the unit’s organization under the COSTAR (Combat Service To The Army) concept and the technical services upon which it is based:
The command and control of all assigned and attached units
The planning and directing the provision of specified combat services support
The coordinated planning and supervision of physical security and rear area protection activities when employed in the Army service area
The providing of staff advice and planning assistance to supported tactical command and combat service support activities.
