U.S. ARMY 18TH FINANCE GROUP UNIT CREST (DUI)

Approved on 19 April 1988 when the unit was still designated the 18th Finance Group, the design of the 18th Financial Management Support Center Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI), or unit crest, is an adaptation of the ancient Roman coin of the emperor Maxentius and alludes to the historical necessity of financially supporting military operations. Eighteen olive leaves and the Roman numerals at the base denote the unit's numerical designation and are a reminder that the Group was created to serve with the United States Army's XVIII Airborne Corps. The unit motto, DRACONIS THESAURUS, translates into English as “Dragon’s Treasure.”

The 18th Financial Support Center (FISC), in coordination with United States Army Financial Management Command (USAFMCOM), Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS), and the theater FISC, provides theater-level financial management synchronization through strategic planning, technical guidance and oversight, in order to support ongoing operations throughout the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) area of responsibility. On order, they provide training support to active duty, Army Reserve, and National Guard financial management units in support of readiness toward mobilization and deployment.

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
