U.S. ARMY 153RD FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SUPPORT UNIT UNIT CREST (DUI)

The Distinctive Unit Insignia, or unit crest, of the 153rd Financial Management Support Unit was originally approved on 16 May 1994 while the organization was still designated as the 153rd Finance Battalion. It silver gray and golden yellow colors are those of the Finance Corps. In addition to allusions to gold and silver coins, gold signifies excellence in heraldry. The laurel wreath is traditional symbol of achievement and high ideal, while the lozenge (diamond shape) over the wreath is taken from the branch insignia of the Finance Corps. A quill pen is associated with administrative functions such as disbursement and financial recordkeeping. The unit motto of “We Pay The Best” is a double-entendre highlighting the proficiency of the unit in delivering financial assistance and services while complimenting the Soldiers whom the unit serves.

Distinctive Unit Insignias is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
