U.S. ARMY 14TH COMBAT SUPPORT HOSPITAL UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

The 14th Combat Support Hospital Distinctive Unit Insignia was first approved for the 14th Field Hospital on 22 February and was redesignated for the unit’s current designation on 17 October 2004. “First To Care,” the unit motto, is inscribed on the same scarlet background used for the Korean taeguk, recalling the two Meritorious Unit Commendations and two Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citations the unit received while also earning credit for participation in eight Korean War campaigns.

Above the inscription is a maroon and silver (white) cross bearing the rod of  Aesculapius; maroon and white are Army Medical Department colors, while the rod alludes to medical treatment and healing. On the left and right are pine branches, which stand for regrowth and hope. The taeguk  is another reference to service in Korea and the many decorations the unit earned there; the Arrowhead placed across from it indicates the unit took part in an Assault landing (in the Aleutians) during World War II while it was designated as the 14th Support Hospital.

Headquartered at Fort Benning (Fort Moore as of late October 2023) in 1996 while still designated as the 14th Field Hospital, the unit deployed to Afghanistan twice and Iraq once in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, with its contributions honored with a Meritorious Unit Commendation for each tour. In June 2021, the 14th Combat Support Hospital relocated to Fort Stewart, Georgia and was concurrently redesignated as the 14th Combat Field Hospital. retaining the Distinctive Unit Insignia of the 14th CSH. As of Summer 2023, the unit's official Facebook page lists its designation as 14th Field Hospital.
