U.S. ARMY 131ST MOBILE ARMY SURGICAL HOSPITAL (MASH) UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

The 131st Mobile Army Surgical Hospital Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 8 March 1988. Courage is symbolized by the color red used for the Greek cross in the center of the insignia; red also represents the lifeblood of the personnel treated by the organization.

A cross also denotes the mission of the Hospital to render medical assistance and care for the wounded and sick, both military and civilian alike. A white sword and serpent is an emblem of the close bond between military forces and the health-care professionals deployed to support and serve them. The white fortress symbolizes strength, security, and unit’s home location in the state of Florida. The unit motto "Skilled To Save" highlights the ultimate purpose of the extensive study and training undertaken by the unit's personnel.

The 131st Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, also referred to as the 131st Surgical Hospital, is an inactive unit in the United States Army.
