U.S. ARMY 11TH ARMORED CAVALRY REGIMENT UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

The Distinctive Unit Insignia (unit crest) of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR) pays homage to the history of the regiment's oldest component, the 11th Cavalry. Two bolos, or machetes, represent the unit’s actions in the jungles of the Philippines, while the cactus stands for the mounted troopers service along the Mexican border in 1916. A black horse head acknowledges the ACR’s Special Designation of “Blackhorse” (use the "Unit Patch" link below for an explanation of this designation). The Regimental motto, “Allons,” variously means “Come” or “Let’s Go,” depending on usage.

Originally approved for the 11th Cavalry Regiment on 6 January 1925, this insignia was redesignated for the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment on 26 November 1951.

As of Autumn 2023, the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment remains an active U.S. Army unit and is stationed at the Fort Irwin National Training Center in San Bernardino County, California. It consists of two Squadrons, the 1st and 2nd, and a Regimental Support Battalion.
