U.S. ARMY 119TH COMBAT SUSTAINMENT SUPPORT BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

Previously designated as the 30th Ordnance Battalion and the 119th Maintenance Battalion, the 119th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion is a unit in the New Jersey Army National Guard with headquarters in Hammonton, New Jersey. A unit in the 42nd Regional Support Group, it exercises command and control over the 253rd Transportation Company, Detachment 1 of the 253rd Transportation Company, and the 110th Engineer Detachment.

The 119th Corps Support Battalion was first approved on 11 October 1967 for the 30th Ordnance Battalion and was redesignated for the 119th Maintenance Battalion in June 1968. It was redesignated for the organization’s current designation on 4 April 1996. Crimson and yellow are used to denote the organization’s origins in the Ordnance branch, with two sprigs of laurel in the upper border denoting the 30th Ordnance Battalion’s World War II and Korean War campaign credits.

Its World War II service, which earned it a Presidential Unit Citation, is symbolized by the eight-rayed sun from the flag of the Republic of the Philippines. Serving in Korea, the Battalion’s outstanding service led to it being tapped for a Meritorious Unit Commendation, represented here by the taeguk from the flag of South Korea. The Battalion’s parent organization, the New Jersey Army National Guard, is symbolized by the lion’s head and the fusil (red diamond shape) which signifies steel for striking fire, depicted by flames as a reference to the unit’s status as a Maintenance battalion. “We’ll Find A Way,” the unit motto, evinces the determination of the troop to fulfill its mission regardless of circumstances.
