U.S. ARMY 115TH BRIGADE SUPPORT BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

The 115th Brigade Support Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia was originally approved for the 15th Supply and Transport Battalion. It was redesignated for the 115th Support Battalion in 1987, which was created through the redesignation of the 1st Forward Support Battalion. Today, the unit’s designation as a Brigade Support Battalion reflects its assignment to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division and its mission of providing the Brigade with logistical support.

During World War II, the unit was designated as Troop D, 16th Quartermaster Squadron and was an element of the 1st Cavalry Division; it earned four campaign streamer and two Meritorious Unit Commendations before the war was over (these were called Distinguished Unit Citations at the time). For its service in Vietnam as the 15th Supply and Transport Battalion, its service was recognized with three Meritorious Unit Commendations, three Republic of Vietnam Cross Gallantry with Palm, a Presidential Unit Citation, and a Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal.

Nicknamed “Muleskinner,” the 115th Brigade Support Battalion is currently headquartered at Fort Fort Cavazos (previously Fort Hood) in Killeen, Texas, where it remains "Prepared In Peace Or War."
