U.S. ARMY 10TH MILITARY POLICE BATTALION UNIT CREST

Approved on 22 September 1997, the Distinctive Unit Insignia (unit crest) of 10th Military Police Battalion reflects the unit’s affiliation with Airborne organizations since its 1973 activation at Fort Bragg through the image of a parachute canopy behind scales of justice, as well as the unit motto “Justice From Above.”

A mailed red fist connotes the authority, power, and intent to uphold the rule of law, while the blue in the canopy and the encircling scroll is another reference to the Battalion’s Airborne association. In the center of the insignia s a green “X,” called a saltire in heraldry; the color is one of the two Military Police colors (the second is found in the scales of gold, which is also the heraldic color of excellence). The saltire’s shape evokes the Roman numeral for ten, the Battalion’s numerical designation.

All personnel assigned to organizations with Distinctive Unit Insignia will wear the insignia except for General Officers and the Sergeant Major of the Army.
